Submissions
The LBJ seeks previously unpublished submissions of creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, narrative scholarship, and literary journalism of avian theme. The journal does not review work primarily academic in nature.
Submissions and a cover letter, including contact information and a brief bio, should be sent as MS Word attachments to submit@literarybirdjournal.org, or by snail mail with a SASE to:

If you choose to submit by email, please indicate the contents of your submission in the subject line in the following manner: Genre: “Title” (example: Creative Nonfiction: “Walking Among Mixed Flocks”)
Submit one piece of no more than 20 double-spaced, single-sided pages of prose and/or 5 poems at one time. Allow for 6 weeks for response, after which send us an email of inquiry. Please do not send a second submission until we've responded to your first.

Visual Art
The LBJ is looking for visual art to showcase in its full-color insert and as illustration in its pages. Send no more than three prospective pieces as low-resolution jpegs, along with a brief bio, to submit@literarybirdjournal.org.
Queries
We're looking for cutting-edge stories about birds, their habitats, and the people around them!
If you’d like to write a piece of literary journalism for The LBJ, send us a query explaining the nature and significance of your proposed story, as well as a writing sample representative of the style in which you plan to work.
